Practice Areas

  • Designer

I have over 20 years leadership experience working in the public sector in product innovation, entrepreneurship, and user experience in roles ranging from Head of Design to Founder. I have worked with Fortune 500 companies, publicly traded companies, private companies, startups, and nonprofits and played a role in both leading and building multi-disciplinary teams to deliver simplified, elegant, value-driven user experiences for highly complex problems with diverse scopes in the B2B and B2C marketplace. My commercialization, research, business development, and product development skills have been applied to cross-platform applications, gamified design, and traditional products across numerous sectors and industries including education, fintech, entertainment, b2b, b2c, IoT, and retail among others.

  • Educator

I currently teach graduate and undergraduate courses in HCI, HCD, UX, Technology, Innovation and Product Management at University of Maryland and Maryland Institute College of the Arts.

I take a human centered, holistic approach to teaching and learning and I prioritize human rights, dignity and sustainable, human development.

I have served as a member of the Advisory Board for the University of New Haven and helped to design and launch their MS and MPS UX graduate programs. I thrive working with and mentoring students on capstone and real-world start up initiatives, helping them explore methods and opportunities to bring their innovations to market.

  • Researcher

My research is in the areas of education reforms through technology and human computer interaction with a focus on sustainable human development in education including social justice, protecting the vulnerabilities of societies, and educating learners and practitioners to be inclusive and aware of best practices for social justice, human rights, and dignity in design and development of technologies. I am interested in research that focuses on ethical decisions that designers, engineers, educators, and researchers face and must consider in evolving societies, global economies and industries challenged by emerging technologies.
